On my testserver, MySQL traffic light in system tray is red.
When I try starting the service from there: stops again.
Trying Starting the service from Computer Management > Services:
Error message:
"Could not start the MySQL service on Local Computer"
"Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly"
Reboot: Same problem.

Seems as if the error just came suddenly - no one was working on the server, nothing new installed etc.

This discussion is referring to the same error, but in new version of MySQL:

Hi Asger.
I have been looking around on this and it is very very strange.
I restored a backup i had of some files in C:\mysql\data  folder. nothing to do with the database but mysql files, and now it works. By restoring it, it overwrite some of the existing files and i guess that they have been corrupted.
Why it has happened; i dont know. As it is a test server we are installing, removing databases, testing etc.. so maybe something has gone wrong during this. Lets see if it was a one off or we get it back again.

Kind Regards
Morten
